About UsPhilosophy – Know God
And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. ~ John 17:3

Knowing God is the first step of what it means to be part of a church. The church is the gathering together of those who know God. One of the purposes of the church is to provide a place for people to know God for the first time and to grow in their knowledge of God. Therefore, knowing God, can be understood as the start and the process of being a Christian.

The Start
Knowing God starts at salvation. This is when people far from God call on God. The Apostle Paul wrote, “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved” (Romans 10:13). A crucial question that you have to ask as you consider being a member of Fellowship or any church is, Where do I stand with God? Have I called on God to rescue me from my sin? Have I declared God as Lord over my life?

If you are struggling to answer these questions, then that may mean that you haven't called on Jesus yet or you don't fully understand what it means to follow Christ. Don't be ashamed about this and don't let it stop you from turning to God today! Unfortunately, many of us come from backgrounds where being “right with God” involved our works and being a good person, but that is not at all what the Bible says. The Bible says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Ephesians 2:8-10).

The path to God is through faith in Jesus and that what He said is true. My sin separated me from God and because of my sin I deserve death and eternal punishment. But, because God so loved us, He sent Jesus to make a way for us. Jesus lived a perfect life of faith and obedience to God. When He died on the cross, He willingly took our sin upon Him. He did this so that we can be close to God. God raised Jesus from the dead and now all who call on Jesus share in Jesus' victory over death by getting to spend eternity with God in Heaven.

To place faith in Jesus looks like this: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). If you have questions about what it means to follow Jesus, please contact the staff of Fellowship.  We would love to talk to you about what it means to know God..

The Process
Growing in our knowledge of God is a process. It requires time and being intentional about the decisions that we make. There are many things for us to learn about God and how we relate to the church.

There are two main ways that Fellowship seeks to help people Know God. One way is through the Sunday Morning Worship Service. Every Sunday service is an opportunity to grow in the knowledge of God through songs, bible study, and the Lord's Supper.

A second way that Fellowship seeks to help people Know God is through Home Groups. Home Groups are small groups that meet for prayer, bible study, accountability, and community. Home Groups are the backbone to continuously growing in knowledge of God, because you are inviting people into your life to help you keep growing.
