FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT

 The Fellowship of Champions

A church helping people win at life

1.  What kind of church is this?
The Fellowship of Champions is a contemporary church with people from various backgrounds.  This means we are made up of people who are what we call spiritual “seekers” (folks who are interested in checking out church and God for the first time) as well as people who have been associated with a particular denomination. Therefore the “flavor” of our church is non-denominational.

2.  What should I wear?
Whatever makes you feel comfortable. Come as you are! Everyone in our church dresses casually so leave the suit and ties at home.

3.  What will the service be like?
The worship service seeks to honor God while being understandable to the audience.  In our worship service you will find:

  • Challenging Messages… that are taught from the Bible and meant to challenge you to take the “next step” in your walk of faith.
  • Contemporary Music… our band and praise team bring people into worship in a way that is easy to sing with if you want or feel free to just listen and take it all in.
  • Creative Media…video, multimedia presentations and drama are used to help illustrate the teaching.
  • Teaching Notes…are contained in each Sunday’s bulletin to provide easy access to the scripture passages being taught without the hassle of having to find your way around in the Bible.  These notes along with the accompanying Powerpoint presentation make learning Biblical principles interesting and interactive.  They also serve as a great source of information to refer back to long after the service has ended.
  • The entire service lasts for just over one hour.
4.  What about children?  Do they come with me or do you have something for them?
Although children are welcome to stay with you in the service, we recommend that they attend either PromiseLand (up to Kindergarten) or KidZone (1st through 5th Grade) while their parents are in the adult worship service.
At PromiseLand and KidZone you will find:
  • Julie Turner, our full time director of children’s ministries, who is passionate about children.
  • Loving volunteers who will make them feel at home and interact with them.
  • A thorough check in security system that will ensure your child’s safety.
  • A “boarding station” that will immediately cause your child to feel involved.
  • Age appropriate classes from birth to 5th grade.
  • Interactive learning through music, crafts, teaching, multimedia and playtime.
  • Spiritual and moral principles being taught to your child that will lay a strong foundation towards the building of a successful life.
  • And much, much more (click here for Children's Ministry Page)
5.  When I come will I have to say anything, give anything, sign anything, sing anything or be singled out?
NO…NO….NO…NO...The Fellowship of Champions wants to make church a “safe place” for people seeking spiritual answers.  You are welcomed to engage at any level with which you are comfortable.  We do not pressure people or single them out. You will feel warmly welcomed without being singled out.  You will be encouraged to grow in your relationship with God, but at your own pace.

6.  What do you have to offer Junior and Senior High Students?
At the Fellowship of Champions, we consider ministry to Junior and Senior High School students a high priority.  We strive to offer relevant, meaningful ministries and events where teenagers can not only explore God's word in a fun and safe environment, but also feel at ease in bringing friends that are seeking to know more about God and his glory.  Our student minister, Patrick Rowe, has a great heart for youth and a strong desire to help them build a deeper relationship with Christ.

  • "The Shack” …is our Wednesday night youth program, where we offer Rockin' Worship, fun and games, and exciting, relevant messages.
  • "Pitstop" ... is our Sunday morning program, a more in-depth discussion about topics of today and what God has to say.  It's also a time of small groups, fellowship and of course fun.
  • Frequent group activities and summer fun days.

7. Is this church affiliated with any denomination?
We work with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Union Baptist Association to do missions on a local, national and international scale. We work with the Willow Creek Association in Chicago, Saddleback Community Church in Mission Viejo, California and Fellowship Church in Dallas, Texas to learn cutting edge techniques of doing ministry.
